The Xavier H. Lopez Scholarship Fund is a not-for-profit corporation classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purpose is the awarding of scholarships to Junior students returning to Holy Cross High School to complete their Senior year. The Fund assists students whose families are in financial need and would otherwise be unable to afford the school tuition.
Except for minor administrative costs, the Fund is dedicated toward the endowment. Fundraising is a very important aspect of the Scholarship Fund and donor contributions are critical to the growth and stability of The Fund. We count on your support and dedication to continue assisting Holy Cross Senior students complete a quality religious and academic education.
The Xavier H. Lopez Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate Xavier Homero Lopez, a 1974 Holy Cross High School graduate. Xavier died in an automobile accident in 1980 at the age of 24. At the time, Xavier was a pre-medical student at St. Mary's University and at the University of Texas Health Science Center. His family, with the sanction of the administration at Holy Cross, began the endowment of a scholarship to honor his promising life.
